Chat to us if you think you may have IBS….
Many patients experience Gastrointestinal or Irritable Bowel Symptoms (IBS). The most common IBS symptoms include lower abdominal pain, bloating, wind, distension, altered bowel habits (diarrhoea and /or constipation). These symptoms can be common in one or many of the conditions we treat, indicated below. Self-diagnosis is never recommended. If you are experiencing symptoms of any kind we encourage you to seek professional advice from your dietitian or GP.
We will review your dietary intake and assess which foods may be contributing to your IBS, investigate other possible intolerances and recommend the necessary changes to help manage your symptoms.
Research in the area of dietary management of IBS has focussed on a large group of dietary sugars called FODMAPs (Fructose, Lactose, Sugar Polyols (such as sorbitol and mannitol), Fructans and GOS (galacto-oligosaccharides). We can help you manage your IBS by teaching you which foods contain high levels of FODMAPs and which foods may be contributing to your IBS.
If you have been tested Positive to Fructose Malabsorption, we can help you understand which foods you need to reduce in order to manage your symptoms. Even if you have been tested negative to the intolerance but still experience symptoms we can help identify which sugars may be problematic for you, identify the tolerance level you may have and then formulate a low FODMAP eating plan for you to follow.
